Consumer Law is the name given to the collection of regulations established by public authorities that are designed to protect the consumer or user in the market of goods and services, awarding and regulating certain rights and obligations.

In Spain, the basic regulations for consumer and users are based on the Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007, recognising article 51 of the Spanish Constitution which obliges the public authorities to guarantee the protection of consumers and users, protecting, through effective procedures, the security, the health and the legitimate economic interests of said consumers and users.
